Hidden gem and not so Hidden Wedding Venues in Savannah &the Lowcountry

When you stumble into the south, looking for a wedding venue is plentiful. There are so many gorgeous wedding venues to be found and I love exploring new and unique spaces that allow the couples vision and love story to truly come to life. Whether you are looking for a city view, hidden private property or even an exclusive beauty, look no further than some of our favorites for your ideal southern wedding.

For the city couple -

Are you looking to host your wedding in a walkable city with so much to do? Do you know that your guests will have a blast exploring all of the local shops, restaurants and bars? Or do they want to get to the beach or relax in the park easily between wedding activities? In Savannah, you have so many gorgeous new properties that can work with any personal style. The Historic Downtown offers many beautiful shops and restaurants all within a walkable distance. Some of my favorite hotels also have a unique style all their own, are able to personalize the guest experience and offer luxury amenities.

The bellwether house.

The Bellwether House is an experiential bed and breakfast located on East Gaston Street in Savannah, GA. They believe every guest matters and should experience all that Bellwether House has to offer. That means each guest gets unlimited access to breakfast, afternoon high tea, evening champagne toasts, anytime on-call staff, unlimited valet, 24/7 on-demand digital trainers in our high-tech gym, daily yoga, seasonal wellness programs, and so much more completely included with any stay. They have a beautiful courtyard perfect for intimate dinner celebrations and you’d work with their Chef for a customized menu experience.

Perry lane hotel.

Perry Lane Hotel is one hotel very near and dear to my heart. Being able to bring this hotel to life as part of their pre-opening team was truly an experience like no other. Perry Lane is right in the heart of the Historic District and hosts a restaurant and two additional bars including the rooftop bar, Peregrin. Even though it opened in 2018, this hotel feels like it has been a part of Savannah history and landscape for some time while still including all of the modern touches. Their rooftop ballroom gives incredible city views with the floor to ceiling windows and opens to a private terrace- giving you the best of indoor and outdoor.

additional city venues.

Some of our additional favorites for a city couple are the new JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside with multiple celebration options, the Mansion at Forsyth for a classic Savannah wedding just steps from Forsyth Park and The Drayton Hotel for the chic couple looking to keep things intimate.

for the place to call home couple -

Are you looking for a place you can call home for your weekend celebration? Want to make it easy for your guests with everything you need in one central location? Then looking at places like Montage Palmetto Bluff, HollyOaks on the Marsh or Cotton Hall might be just your ticket.

hollyoaks on the marsh.

Outside of Savannah along the marsh with a unique view all of its own is HollyOaks on the Marsh. This incredible private property offers couples their home for the entire weekend, allowing you to fully personalize the experience as if you are truly hosting at your own home. The Maupin Family allows couples to host any and all events throughout the weekend for one manageable fee which makes it easy to customize and allows couples to use the property for engagement photos as well. I love the gardens spaces for bridal luncheons and for your ceremony, the front of the Manor House is the perfect backdrop.

montage palmetto bluff.

Montage Palmetto Bluff is another gorgeous property in Bluffton, South Carolina. The 4 mile drive into the property gives you plenty of time to relax and soak in all of the natural beauty. Couples that host here get world class service in food, beverage and accommodations. Events can be hosted throughout the 20,000 acre property including along the May River, at the base of the Moreland Landing Tree House and in the Village Green where the original home once was. Guests that come and stay for the weekend will have no shortage of fun exploring all Palmetto Bluff has to offer by bike, golf cart or boat.

Cotton Hall.

Also across the river into South Carolina, there is another incredibly private estate. Cotton Hall is a new venue in Yemassee that gives you all of The Notebook love story vibes with the long dirt driveway, gorgeous 1920’s Georgian home and oak trees that expand down towards the ground. They have unobstructed marsh views and plenty of privacy for your celebration on their 716 acres. You also have the ability to rent out the house to stay for the weekend or longer with their Bed & Breakfast accommodations.

These are just a few of our favorite wedding venues in the Lowcountry. There are so many to choose from and so many wonderful things to say about each one. With Charleston as the big sister of Savannah, we will have to dive into some of our favorite Charleston wedding venues next time! Pro Tip - when looking for your ideal wedding venue, be sure it reflects your personal style or is a blank enough space for us to create your style within it.
